In just ONE WEEK my squad and I will be heading to Medellin, Colombia for our first stop on The World Race. We arrived in Georgia just 4 days ago… and WOWWWW has God been showing up already.

Choosing to say yes to The World Race comes with a lot of things and one of those is community. I’ve lived in close community before so coming into this I had some ideas of how team dynamics would play out. It’s been so sweet to see friendships form over the short time we’ve been here.

In seeing different connections formed I felt like God highlighted two things for me. One method of connection I’ve seen is a small group of people INVITING an individual to come in and join an activity or conversation. I’ve also seen people PURSUE individuals in one on one conversations by walking up to someone who is alone and creating connections. What I like about both of these is the intentionality in them. Whether we are inviting someone into a community that is already established or pursuing someone one on one to create a smaller sense of community they are both built on the intentionality of wanting to love, see and connect with that person.

I wondered why God highlighted this to me since being here and i think it’s because there have been different times of my life where he used both of these methods to love me. There have been times where God has pursued me so uniquely and personally. There was a period of time in my life where i look back and can clearly see through a series of events that God was pursuing me individually. In Boston he invited me into the spiritual community he had planned for me. I was new to it and still felt a tug to lean in. His gentle push was such a sweet invitation that grew me abundantly over three years.

A prayer I have this year is that our squad would be one of intentional community. That we would continue to pursue each other and others one on one. I pray that we would also be open hearted to invite others into this community of believers no matter what their backgrounds are so we can intentionally try to love them well. I pray that God would use us to love one another deeply as we go out and serve other communities.

I’m so excited to keep you all updated as much as possible throughout this year. Thank you for the continued support, I am FULLY FUNDED and so ready to see what God has planned.

Love always,

One response to “Community…”

  1. WOW what a cool thing the Lord highlighted to you and how amazing is He for loving us and inviting us into communion with Him in these ways. Love your perspective and the harmony you carry on this squad!
